Happy First Day of Spring!

After last week's grand storm, it's hard to believe that Spring has officially arrived! As winter lingers on through the months of spring, Fairplay, tucked away in the heart of the Rockies, with its snow-covered landscapes and rugged beauty, remains an enchanting destination during this transitional season.

A Snowy Serenity:

While much of the country welcomes spring with blooming flowers and warmer temperatures, Fairplay retains its snowy cloak for a little bit longer. The surrounding peaks remain dusted with white, creating a picturesque backdrop for outdoor adventures. There's a quiet beauty to be found in the snow-covered meadows and frozen streams, offering a unique perspective on the changing seasons.

Spring Activities:

There are still plenty of activities to enjoy throughout the spring. Breckenridge Ski Resort remains open well into May for spring skiing. Adventurous souls can explore the snow-covered trails on snowshoes or cross-country skis, taking in the serene beauty of the winter landscape. Anglers can try their luck fishing on the thawing rivers, while wildlife enthusiasts may spot elk and other native species against the snowy backdrop.

Cozy Comforts:

Fairplay's small-town charm shines even brighter in the late spring months. Front Street remains a hub of activity, with unique restaurants and local shops welcoming visitors to explore the area. It's the perfect time to cozy up by the fireplace with a hot cup of cocoa or explore the town's historic buildings, which take on a magical quality when dusted with snow. The Snitching Lady offers some tasty hot toddies and 'Old Fashioned' to spice up your evening should you so be inclined. Be sure not to miss the amazing pastries and designer bread at the Bristlecone Bake Shop in downtown Alma. This has quickly become a favorite of ours.

Scenic Wonders:

Enjoy warmer temperatures and snow shoeing around the Elf Haus. Take a scenic drive over Hoosier Pass to discover hidden gems tucked away in the mountains. Visit the Breckenridge Troll and enjoy some ice cream from iScream.

Community Connections:

Springtime in Fairplay, Park County, Breckenridge, and surrounding towns bring with them a sense of community spirit. The days are getting longer and we all seem to have a bit more pep in our step. Before the summer festival season is in full swing <watch for our next blog post with those details....>, embrace the local shops, distilleries, and breweries in Fairplay and Alma or swing over to Breckenridge to partake in the final days of skiing and closing day festivities which are currently projected for May 12.

Late spring in Fairplay offers a unique and enchanting experience for those willing to embrace the last remaining snow and chilly temperatures. From snow-covered adventures to cozy comforts and community connections, The Elf Haus invites you to discover the beauty of late spring in the heart of the Rockies. So bundle up, embrace the snow, and embark on a late spring journey to Fairplay (and the entirety of Park County), where the magic of the mountains awaits.
